What is aquascaping?

Aquascaping is the craft of arranging plants, rocks, wood and substrate to create an underwater landscape. Good aquascapes balance composition, scale and healthy plant growth.

Use the rule of thirds, create a clear focal point, and leave open space. Choose one hardscape material and one cohesive set of plants. Start with hardy, low-tech plants like java fern and anubias.

Plan your layout dry first, slope substrate higher at the back for depth, plant densely, and be patient as the scape grows in.
